VIADER Tasting Notes

VIADER

Our distinctive blend allows Cabernet Sauvignon to provide the backbone, structure, character and complexity with succulent fruit and rich tannins. The added Cabernet Franc instills the aromatics and imparts a silky structure as well as suppleness and elegance while capturing an ideal balance between the two varietals; the Cabernet Franc contributing early approachability and the Cabernet Sauvignon providing long aging potential.

VIADER Syrah

A combination of certified Barossa (Australian Shiraz) and Hermitage (Rhone Valley) clones were selected and planted on the estate in 1997, on Howell Mountain, 1300 feet about the Napa Valley floor. Our VIADER Syrah shows the spice and red fruits of the Australian clone and the aromatic nuances of the Rhone Valley clone. Our hillside brings them together in an elegant and powerful dance.

Estate Limited EditionVIADER Black Label

On the VIADER estate, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc have been cultivated since 1986, and we have over a decade of experience growing Syrah on Howell Mountain. However, only in 2004 did we start producing Malbec. Alan Viader planted under a 1/4 acre on the estate after spending a harvest in Mendoza, Argentina where Malbec is the region’s most distinctive grape. Although our yields are very low, the wine produced from our estate Malbec is very concentrated with blackberry and soft supple tannins. In the “Black Label” blend, it is kind of like the "pinch" of salt that brings everything together!
