This annual softball game is a casual and fun event held each year in St. Helena between the two major wine industry trade organizations. Members of the Napa Valley Vintners Association (NVV) play against the Napa Valley Grapegrowers. Participants can be any employee from a member winery. The teams are made up of a “blend” of winery owners, winemakers, vineyard managers, cellar workers, sales people, accountants, etc.
This year’s game was held on June 26, 2007, and finally, after two years, the Vintners could proclaim victory over the Grapegrowers! The final score was 26-13, Vintners!
The Grapegrowers named their team the “Threepeats”, and the Vintners team was “Ton of Brix.” VIADER joined the Vintner’s team with players Alan Viader, Cante Swearingen, and No. 1 Fan Mariela Viader. Players and spectators alike can enjoy America’s favorite past time while having a beer, wine, cocktails and hot dogs which are provided for both teams by the NVV. Batter up!
