Alan Viader
Director of Operations
Having spent his childhood on the VIADER Estate, his love for this unique terroir is augmented by the academic knowledge he received during his four years in college. Alan has visited the many wine regions in France, and he also gained incredible experience by working a harvest with the producers of Achaval-Ferrer in Mendoza, Argentina, in February 2005. Today, as Delia's right-hand, Alan has the opportunity of overseeing production of Viader wines from start to finish. Alan has been managing the vineyards at VIADER since 2002, but has worked in all areas of the cellar and the vineyards. As the Director of Operations at Viader, Alan has now moved into the position of winemaking, while he continues to closely supervise the projects in the vineyard. Alan and Delia make the winemaking decisions together, such as when to rack, and which barrel lots to blend together and when. Each brings his own ideas to the table, but because their core values are in sync, they make a wonderful family winemaking team. |

Paul Viader
Delia's eldest, Paul, has always been an absolute delight. Born with a minor mental disability, Paul is currently employed at Whitehall Nursery, where he waters and cares for the nursery's plants. Paul is an absolute pleasure to be around. At the winery events he mostly hangs out in the kitchen with Chef Mariela and helps with the eating, and not to mention the dancing at our annual Harvest Party. He is a skilled baseball player, who favors the San Francisco Giants. However, his real passion can not be denied: he is the king of pop music, with a collection of close to 300 albums

Alex Viader
Alex Viader was born in Napa, California. His earliest experiences with wine involve his mother dipping his pacifier in red wine at dinner. At six, he started traveling with Delia to the vineyards in Tuscany, where after trying several Italian varietals, he decided he prefers Pinot Grigio. As the son of a winemaker, he ignores our jokes that his manifest destiny is to be our future winemaker at VIADER, and prefers to hang out with his friends in St. Helena. Alex helps the family business during harvest and bottling. He plays basketball, soccer and guitar, and attends the St. Helena Catholic School. |
