2004 VIADER "V"

The Wine: “V” is an exclusive VIADER blend with a primary focus on Petit Verdot rounded up with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Each year, differing amounts of these varietals are carefully selected to create a blend that best expresses the character and nature of the VIADER Estate. “V” is intended to highlight the sophistication of Petit Verdot as a varietal. Petit Verdot imparts deep color, tannin and piquant spice to the blend. Cabernet Sauvignon maintains the balance and a smaller percentage of Cabernet Franc adds plushness to the finish. The result of this unique combination is a vibrant, sumptuous wine with a powerful but inviting presence.

Growing Notes: The 2004 growing season started with an early bud break followed by heat spikes in June and at scattered intervals throughout the summer season. Grapes completed veraison early allowing for even maturity and well developed sugars. Steady warm temperatures towards the end of the season made for one of the earliest harvests in history. Grape quality was very good with a crop that was smaller than average. The 2004 growing season balanced the unique characteristics of our terroir. Warm summer days built up intensity and complexity in the grapes, while the cool nights ensured good acidity levels.
