(IWC May/June 2009): Bright red-ruby. Spicy red cherry, raspberry and cocoa powder on the nose. Supple and ripe, with a nicely fleshy quality to the slightly medicinal red cherry and red berry flavors. Finishes with chewy, building tannins that arrive late and reach the front teeth. (89-91 points) 2007 DARE by Viader Cabernet Franc
(IWC May/June 2009): Good full medium red. Perfumed aromas of red raspberry, currant and rose petal. Juicy, pretty red fruit flavors offer lovely inner-mouth aromatics and varietal character, but this youthfully tight wine also has a serious tannic spine to support at least several years of bottle aging. The building tannins dust the teeth. (89-91 points)
2007 DARE by Viader Tempranillo
(IWC May/June 2010): Medium bright, deep red. Cherry, licorice and spices on the nose. A bit reduced and youthfully tart in the mouth, with slightly medicinal red cherry and licorice flavors dominating. As with the Dare cabernet, the tannins seem a tad dry today, but this offers very good varietal character. (88 points)
(IWC May/June 2009): Good deep red. Slightly candied, liqueur-like aromas of black cherry and licorice pastille. Dense, sweet and nicely pliant, with tongue-dusting tannins framing the fruit. This was slated to be bottled the day after my visit. (88-89 points)

May/June 2008 Issue 138
Dark red. Spicy aromas of bitter cherry, flowers, licorice and menthol. Juicy and intense, with a creamy quality and lovely aromatic lift to its flavors of bitter cherry and flowers. Finishes perfumed and persistent, with rather suave tannins. A lovely cabernet franc bottling. (I preferred this wine to the drier ’05, which I scored 90 points a year ago, but 89 in March.) (90 pts)
Good deep red-ruby. Cassis, flowers, menthol and dusty, nutty oak on the nose. Sweet but serious, with the middle palate currently dominated by the wine’s firms structure. This distinctly claret-like wine finishes with substantial, slightly tough tannins and a primary medicinal character (89(+?) pts)
Good deep red. Aromas of bitter cherry, mocha, mint and flowers. Juicy and firmly built, with a medicinal cast to its flavors of bitter cherry and spices. Finishes with substantial, palate-dusting tannins and good breadth. Perhaps a tad sweeter than the 2005 example. (88 pts)

Good full ruby-red. Aromas of bitter cherry, leather and band-aid. Sweeter and suppler than the 2005 cabernet franc release, with a distinctly plumper, softer middle palate. Finishes with dusty tannins and lingering sweet fruit. (88 pts)

Complex, tight and focused, displaying dried currant and spicy berry notes, with hints of nutmeg, sage and herbs. The long, focused, lingering, firmly tannic finish bodes well for short-term cellaring. Best from 2009 through 2014. 2,000 cases made. (89 points) –JL

Dark red. Medicinal cherry, spices and smoky oak on the nose. Sweet, moderately dense and ripe, with a flavor of bitter cherry framed by harmonious acidity. This seems riper than the 2003 version. Finishes with dusty tannins that build with air. Very easy to drink. (88 points)
